Athletics

Last updated – 3/14 12:00pm

The King’s Way Athletic Department and our teammates in Administration are committed to effective and detailed communication as soon as we can get it to you.  As many of you know, Governor Inslee (along with Oregon Governor Brown) has stated that all schools, both public and private, and their activities, including athletics, are effectively suspended between Tuesday, March 17th and Friday, April 24th.  So, with that being said, here are some important items you need to know:

  • All athletic activities are suspended.  This includes practices, games, banquets, scrimmages as officially organized by our school, league, district and state.
  • Final practices for spring sports will be Monday, March 16th.
  • The Athletic Dept. along with our Admin. Team will be in review of spring athletic fees and the impact this is having.  We will send dedicated communication regarding this.  At this point, please know it’s a focus point for our ongoing discussions.
  • As of right now, we are calling this a suspension of activity.  We expect to resume spring sports on April 24th — HOWEVER, we are at the will of our league, district, and the WIAA.  We await word from them on what the plan is to finish spring sports could look like.
  • All fundraising for spring sports needs to be suspended.  Please no longer share your SnapRaise goals (Baseball).  If you are involved in any fundraising as a team, I’ve instructed your coaches to suspend the activity.
  • There are to be no athletes in our facilities unless directed by myself.
  • Again, because we are viewing this as a suspension until otherwise noted, keep your uniforms until directed.
  • Myself along with the other ADs in the league and district will be meeting later next week to discuss possible solutions moving forward for spring athletes (if there are any) once a return is granted.  Public and private schools are at the will of state mandates in education. There are quite a few moving parts.  However, we are always willing to create positive, safe, and healthy environments for our student-athletes.

There will be time to plan and celebrate seniors.  Right now, we need to focus on forward motion operationally.  We feel terrible for seniors and want to take intentional time and prayer on how we can best honor their commitment.  This plan will take some time, but make no mistake, it will be celebratory.

King’s Way is committed to the health and safety of all of our students, fans, and families.  While this is regretful, it’s important to operate in facts and prayer.  My prayer is that all of you remain safe and healthy and that we rely on God’s wonderful plan and awesome power.  I can’t wait to see how He reveals Himself through this process.  God is great and let’s use this to come together!
